My Care Philosophy

I've always been fascinated by the complexity of the human body. Working as a physician, I have the honor -- and challenge -- of communicating these complex topics to my patients while offering therapeutic options to improve their health and quality of life. I joined Kaiser Permanente because my values align with the organization's integrative, team-based, and patient-centered approach to care and wellness. As a physician, my first priority is listening to patients to learn about their symptoms and then identifying care goals through shared decision-making. In particular, I have a passion for treating all urologic cancers, for which I completed additional specialty fellowship training.

About Me

I was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington. An avid soccer player during my youth, I also played soccer for the University of Portland in Oregon and then professionally for the Portland Timbers (now a Major League Soccer team). During my time there, I coached youth soccer for more than a decade, which was a great joy. Subsequently, I enrolled in medical school at Oregon Health and Sciences University. I returned to my home state for residency and fellowship at the University of Washington.

How I Thrive

Running  is my main source of exercise. I enjoy playing golf as well and continue to play soccer with my children or recreationally when my schedule allows. I enjoy reading, particularly science and medical literature. My approach to staying healthy is exercising, eating vegetables, and getting enough sleep. Daily family time is a priority.
