My Care Philosophy

I've always been fascinated by the complexity of the human body. Care providers have the privilege (and challenge) of communicating these complexities to patients while offering therapeutic options to make them better. I enjoy distilling challenging topics into terms patients . I joined Kaiser Permanente because my values align with the organization's integrative, team-based, and patient-centered approach to care and wellness. As a physician, my first priority is listening to patients to learn about their symptoms and then identifying care goals through shared decision-making. I have a specific interest in urologic cancers, including adrenal, kidney, ureteral, bladder, prostate, testicular, and external genitalia cancers. It's a great honor when someone entrusts you with their health care. Developing patient relationships is what I most enjoy about practicing medicine, including the ups and downs that we work through together.

About Me

I was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington. An avid soccer player during my youth, I also played soccer for the University of Portland in Oregon, and then professionally for the Portland Timbers (now of Major League Soccer). During my time there, I coached youth soccer for more than a decade, which was a great joy. Subsequently, I enrolled in medical school at Oregon Health and Sciences University. I returned to my home state for residency and fellowship at the University of Washington.

How I Thrive

Running is my main source of exercise, though I continue to play soccer and swim when my schedule allows. I enjoy reading scientific and medical literature and topics pertaining to social science, autobiographies, and humor.. My approach to staying healthy is exercising, eating my vegetables, and getting enough sleep. Connecting with my family on a daily basis is a must.
