My Care Philosophy

I love meeting adolescents and their families during times of crisis, and connecting them to treatment and resources most relevant to their needs. I enjoy watching adolescents move through challenges; develop physically, cognitively and emotionally; and thrive as they transition into adulthood. I see new patients ages 11 to 17 years old and can follow patients longitudinally in partnership with their primary care provider. My medical interests include sexual and reproductive health; LGBTQ health, including medical management of gender diverse, transgender and non-binary children and adolescents; eating disorders; mental health and school-related health issues. I joined Kaiser Permanente to help support primary care providers in caring for adolescents with complex medical and psychosocial needs, and to increase knowledge and awareness about adolescent health issues among the broader provider community.

About Me

I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and relocated to the Pacific Northwest for pediatric residency training at Seattle Children's Hospital. I chose to pursue a career in adolescent medicine to support young people and their families during the critical transition from childhood to adulthood. I am inspired by the incredible potential I see in my patients as they face the medical and psychosocial challenges of adolescence. I am also working on developing a digital tool that will help parents and supportive adults talk to their kids about growing up, puberty and sex. I have conducted research focused on improving sexual and reproductive health services for adolescents in school-based health centers, primary care settings, and low-resource, international settings in Kenya.

How I Thrive

My family and I love being active when we travel, whether we are skiing, hiking or wandering through European cities. I stay mentally and physically healthy by starting my day with yoga or mindfulness whenever I can, using alternative forms of transit, preparing fresh and local foods, and maintaining our wonderful community of friends.
