"It is a wonderful feeling to go home at the end of each day, knowing that I made a difference in someone's health."
Board certified Cardiovascular Disease
My areas of specialty include preventive cardiology, hypertension, lipid disorders, cardiac imaging, chronic cardiac conditions and a plant-based diet. I consider it a great privilege to be entrusted with the health of my patients. It is a wonderful feeling to go home at the end of each day, knowing that I made a difference in someone's health. I listen carefully to the values and goals of my patients, so I can provide the best guidance for each individual. I consider medical decisions based upon the best available medical evidence available. I joined Kaiser Permanente because I think health care can best be delivered through a collaboration between primary care providers and specialists.
I was born and raised in the Skagit Valley of Washington State. To pay for college and medical school, I worked in Alaska on a commercial fishing boat during the summers. I met and married my husband in Wisconsin, and we have a son who is an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers. I chose medicine as a career because I enjoy the detective work that goes into sorting through a patients story and coming up with an individualized plan to maximize their health.
I try to do something active every day, even if it is just a quick, seven-minute workout. I follow a primarily plant-based diet. I stay mentally healthy by exercising and spending time with my family. Although I enjoy the outdoors, especially on those sunny Northwest days, I am just as happy reading a good book at home. I participate in environmental advocacy, and like to spend time mushroom hunting, clam digging and camping.
