"I enjoy partnering with my patients. I believe everyone has the opportunity and capacity to achieve better health."
Board certified Sports Medicine
Throughout medical school and during my intern year in family medicine, I was fortunate to learn from caring, knowledgeable and inspiring physicians. Joining Washington Permanente Medical Group is an opportunity to parlay the practice ideals and guiding principles that helped shape me. I believe in patient-centered and evidence-based medicine. My goal is to treat the whole person, not just the disease or injury. I especially enjoy partnering with patients to help them achieve a healthier lifestyle. My patients inspire me to practice what I preach. My medical interests and specialties include sports medicine, non-operative orthopedics/musculoskeletal medicine, exercise as medicine, preventive medicine, precision medicine and health care innovation. I also serve as a clinical instructor for the University of Washington, Department of Family Medicine, the University of Washington Sports Medicine Fellowship Program, and the Kaiser Permanente of Washington Family Medicine Residency Program.
I was born and raised in Hawaii. I moved to Seattle for college and medical school. After completing my medical training, I worked in Hawaii for two years before returning to Seattle, where I now consider home. I met my wife in fellowship when she was completing her family medicine residency program. We have two awesome kids. Both of them were born at Kaiser Permanente, formerly Group Health.
I enjoy spending time with family and friends, working out, surfing, martial arts and outdoor activities. I have a twin brother who is also a sports medicine doctor. We went to college and medical school together. He is part of the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group. I've also served for six seasons as the head team physician for the Seattle Storm (WNBA).
