Board certified Internal Medicine
Patients age 18 and over
I am continually inspired by the dedication and expertise of my Kaiser Permanente colleagues, and the organization's commitment to evidence-based medicine and value-based care. My goal is to always listen and be present with my patients in an effort to help them decide their best treatment options. Currently, I see patients with complex chronic diseases, including diabetes, cirrhosis, renal disease and heart failure. I also offer HIV management, HCV management, geriatric and palliative care.
I was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, and moved to Norfolk, Virginia, when I was 5. I have lived in the Pacific Northwest since 2005. I am married to a very supportive software engineer, and we have one son. My father and grandfather are both physicians who adore their jobs, but after I graduated from college I intended to break from the family tradition of practicing medicine. However, after living abroad for a few years and having direct experience with illness, I decided that medicine would be a wonderful career choice.
My life is enriched by the various interactions and experiences I have with my diverse group of patients. I learn something new about myself or the world every day. I try to walk 10,000 steps daily, take at least a few minutes to do yoga and find the humor in life. When it's sunny, we like to paddle our kayaks, and we love hiking as a family. When it's better to be inside, you'll find me reading fantasy and science fiction novels, or trying new ways to get a toddler to consume vegetables.
