My Care Philosophy

Listening to my patients is key. As a psychiatrist and a doctor, I believe in "whole person" health. I use a combination of therapeutic interventions that are tailored to the patient's unique concerns. It's a privilege to have the opportunity to help patients navigate the challenging landscape of mental health. I love this field of medicine because it's versatile, innovative, and constantly evolving. Psychiatry is like an art that needs patience, guidance, and patient collaboration. I'm always looking at novel ways to help address the various challenges that my patients are going through, both from a pharmacological and therapeutic perspective. I'm also an advocate for mindfulness-based stress reduction, which I advise patients to follow in their daily lives. My areas of expertise include reproductive psychiatry, transplant psychiatry, mood disorders, anxiety, consult-liaison psychiatry, collaborative care models, and population health.

About Me

I was born in Mumbai, India, and immigrated to the U.S. after I finished medical school. I completed my residency in psychiatry and my fellowship in psychosomatic medicine in New York. As a child, I looked up to my dad, who is a family practitioner. I decided to specialize in psychiatry because I saw it as a field that was greatly stigmatized. I'm a firm believer that a healthy body needs a healthy mind, so I chose to further specialize in the field of consult-liaison psychiatry, which addresses the psychiatric comorbidities in the medically ill. I practiced in an academic setting at Icahn School of Medicine before deciding to move to the West Coast with my family. I've held several leadership roles along with direct patient care. My husband and I have been married for 10 years, and we're blessed with a 5-year-old son. I chose to join Kaiser Permanente because I was impressed with the organization and how quickly it was able to pivot to telehealth in the face of the pandemic.

How I Thrive

I'm an avid reader. I also love to sketch, and my notebooks are filled with my artwork. Traveling and trying out new cuisines are other ways I like to recharge. Above all, my 5-year-old son is my inspiration. His smile, hugs, and kisses keep me motivated, even in challenging times. I also enjoy chatting with my friends from all over the world.
