"Treating patients with compassion is central to my philosophy of care."
To date, I've practiced in small partnerships and solo practices. Kaiser Permanente will provide me with the opportunity to collaborate with other providers in a collaborative, timely, and efficient manner to provide patients with the best care possible. Treating patients with compassion is central to my philosophy of care. The care I recommend to my patients mirrors the care I would provide my family. I enjoy meeting interesting people from all walks of life and bonding over shared interests.
I was born in South Dakota but moved around the country a lot in my youth. I attended optometry school in Oregon, where I met my wife. After graduation, we relocated to her home state of Colorado. Over the course of 12 years, we practiced optometry and had 2 children. On a reunion trip to the Pacific Northwest, we decided to move back; we are loving every minute.
I enjoy almost every outdoor activity, including hiking, backpacking, boating, fishing, gardening, and many activities related to raising 2 wonderful, energetic children. Physical activity is how I stay healthy, motivated, and inspired. It also reduces stress. My early years in the Army National Guard exposed to me to a lifestyle of physical fitness: working out in a gym, swimming, running, cross-country skiing, and cycling. I've also accomplished many running, cycling, and endurance events, including 2 full Ironman Triathlons. I try to lead by example and show my kids that an active lifestyle is a healthy one.
