My Care Philosophy

I am a collaborative provider who encourages patients to take an active role in their health. Through education and shared decision-making, I help patients to understand their condition and work together to reach optimal outcomes with the best medical and surgical care. I am especially interested in serving patients with eyelid, tear duct, and eye-socket problems. I am fluent in Korean and am happy to see patients who speak the language.

About Me

After emigrating from Seoul, South Korea, as a young child, I was raised in Los Angeles, California, and moved after professional training to Seattle, where I now call home. I graduated from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and completed both my residency and my fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. I am board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. I am happily married with 2 children who share my love of medicine and helping others; one became a physician and the other a social worker. As clinical associate professor at the University of Washington Department of Ophthalmology, I enjoy teaching medical students, residents, and ophthalmic assistants about ophthalmology and oculoplastics (ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery).

How I Thrive

Spending time in nature, especially the snow-capped mountains, helps me to clear my mind and inspires my soul. I stay healthy with regular exercise, running, biking, skiing and by maintaining a healthy diet. I am an avid reader who attends church and Bible study.
