I left private practice to join here because it has allowed me to concentrate on providing patient-centered eye care instead of working so hard to run a business. In appointments, I make sure each patient feels like I’m listening carefully to their eye care needs. I like to achieve outstanding results in each visit, which makes my career rewarding and keeps my patients happy. My specialties include cataract surgery co-management, management of non-surgical glaucoma, providing exams to adults and children, and fitting patients for contact lenses. My favorite part of the job is to have a patient happily report improvements to their vision; I love helping others see better.
I grew up in the south end of the Salt Lake Valley in Utah. After completing my Bachelor of Science in zoology at Brigham Young University, I moved to the Pacific Northwest to attend optometry school in Oregon and have lived in Oregon or Washington ever since. I am married and so far, we have three sons and five grandsons. I've always had an interest in math, science, and physics; optometry was a way of combining these interests into a profession in health care. My patients might be interested in knowing that I currently serve as the Eye Care Chief for the Washington East Region.
